WHY
SHOULD I HAVE A CUSTOM FITTED SADDLE? |
| Just
as you are different in size to other humans, your horse is exactly
the same. |
The
purchase of an individually handmade saddle that fits you and
your horse,
ensures the following: |
| •
The saddle is designed to be comfortable for both you and your
horse. |
| •
The saddle is stable and does not move around when you ride. |
| •
The saddle is the correct width for you and is also correct for
the width of your horse. |
| •
The saddle is designed to suit the type of riding you intend to
do. |
| Other
important factors: |
|
| What
breed is your horse? |
General
body type, wither type, height and weight not only varies with
each horse but,
the breed can also mean that your horse carries it's width lower
than other breeds.
Is there anything unusual about your horse?
Does the current saddle fit comfortably?
What size is the tree? |
What
about you, the rider? |
What
height and weight are you?
Where do you carry most of your weight?
Do you have long or short legs?
Do you have a long or short body/torso?
All of these factors determine the saddle we make for you. |
What
about your riding style? |
Do
you sit forward on the saddle or farther back?
Does your saddle feel balanced?
Is your saddle better suited to a longer/shorter legged rider?
|
| As
you can see from the information listed here, there are so many
variables about both you and your horse that a saddle should always
be fitted to suit both you and your horse. |
Just
as important is the fact that your horse will change shape over
time, due to age, feed management and even the amount of work
done. Even with a custom saddle, you should regularly check
to ensure it continues to be comfortable for your horse. Pressure
in the wrong place can cause problems to both the horse and
your riding comfort. |
| If
in doubt, contact us to ensure any adjustments are made immediately,
thereby ensuring comfort and optimum fit. |
